Osteopaths & Chiropractors - Which One To Choose?

Osteopaths and Chiropractors are trained for the same period - they both follow a 5 year training course. In my opinion the choice is somewhat like saying Ford is better than Chevy or Man Utd are a better soccer team than Liverpool - it’s a very subjective choice.

(Soccer afficionados of course know that it is absolutely the truth that Man Utd are better than Liverpool!)

If you want to know which out of Osteopaths and Chiropractors is best right now, without reading any further the answer is:

Find someone you know and trust who uses an Osteopath or Chiropractor and if they can wholeheartedly recommend their practitioner to you, then use them.

In every profession there are good guys, average guys and bad guys. If you find yourself a “good guy” Osteopath or Chiropractor you’ll be in safe hands.

Note also that there are different types of Chiropractors and Osteopaths and each type has a different approach and style. There are those who deliberately offer very gentle forms of treatment that have very limited side effects after treatment.

Others, perform spinal adjustments and manipulations with greater force, which in some cases can lead to temporary pain and discomfort if your spinal ligaments are stretched during the “cracking” of your neck or back.

Both Osteopaths and Chiropractors can cause irritation to spinal ligaments, however my experience is that any temporary discomfort is well worth the benefit.

So in summary, both professions treat back pain but generally the approach is different thats all. Every profession will have its supporters and success stories.
